One of the world’s largest independent communities of coders and developers hits major milestone.

TORONTO,  — CodeProject, one of the world’s largest online communities of software developers, is celebrating its ten millionth registered member. The community was co-founded thirteen years ago by Chris Maunder and David Cunningham with the simple idea of generating collaborative content that would help developers improve their work flow and technical abilities.

To celebrate the milestone, CodeProject is working with its members to coordinate celebrations around the world throughout the summer.  Celebratory events will be hosted by influential members of the CodeProject community in countries such as Switzerland, England, India, Bangladesh, Israel, the United States and Brazil. The events were initiated with the goal of uniting members and allowing them to engage with one another and reflect on both the past and future of CodeProject.

“CodeProject has given me so much over the years. I’ve learned from some of the best minds that I’ve ever come across – some of whom have even become friends,” said Peter O’Hanlon, a UK-based developer and CodeProject member for over 10 years. “CodeProject has provided me with a community of people that challenge, interest and educate me, and interaction with them has made me a better person.”

As part of the ten millionth member celebrations, CodeProject will also be awarding an amazing software prize package to two lucky members in honour of this major milestone.  Prizes include a one-year CodeFluent Entities Ultimate license from SoftFluent, a developer license of WebUI Studio from Intersoft Solutions, an Aspose Total suite from Aspose, and an SQL Developer Bundle from Redgate,  and much more.

“When I wrote CodeProject thirteen years ago, the site started off with one hundred or so articles written by me, plus another thousand or so from just over 750 developers that I knew felt the same way about wanting to share their code and expertise with fellow developers,” said Maunder, co-founder of CodeProject. “The more code we collectively gave away, the more people used CodeProject, and the more developers joined us in sharing code. Today, over thirty-five thousand high-quality articles live on CodeProject.  We are celebrating our ten million members, and look forward to welcoming the next ten million.”

For more information on CodeProject’s ten millionth member celebrations, visit the event page at www.codeproject.com/Competitions/652/CodeProject-Ten-Million-Members-Celebration-Giveaw.aspx. To be eligible to win the software prize packs members must either create their own photo ‘meme’ of CodeProject’s mascot Bob, or submit a short video congratulating CodeProject on reaching ten million members.

Membership is free at CodeProject, and provides unlimited access to the articles, discussions, downloadable code, and time-tested how-to information. Professional software developers worldwide rely on the crowd-sourced, peer-written and peer-reviewed technical content on crucial subjects such as apps, mobile, cloud, iOS, Windows, Android, SharePoint, touch UIs, and hundreds more.
